Always buy in local currency on your credit card when given the option of your home currency by the store, you’re going to be paying a premium on the exchange rate in the store.

Form a WhatsApp group with the group you are travelling with before you leave. This will help you to communicate any last-minute travel changes, delays or anything related to the group.

When in a new city try find out the local hangouts and when visiting a restaurant order what the regulars eat – they generally know whats best.

Never travel hungry or thirsty, you never know if your flight is delayed or how long you will be sitting on the plane. Pack a snack bar or two in case of emergency.

Check for your passport at every stage of your trip. When you book your flight, as you get into the car for the airport, when you board the plane and when you disembark. There are only two essentials for any trip – your credit card and passport. Remember to check your passport is valid for at least 3 months and you have several blank remaining.

Travel with a noise cancelling headset, the soft sponge of an over ear headset is far more comfortable than an in-ear headset for longer journeys. It may save you from a snoring neighbour or restless baby.

Always pack in a multi country power plug, while some hotels have USB charging ports, the majority do not. A good powerbank is also highly recommended.

Always carry two different credit cards and keep them separated. Put one in your wallet and the other one in you case or at your hotel.

It is good practice to inform your local embassy, in the country you are visiting, your travel details.  In case of any travel emergency, they will have your records, know your whereabouts and be able to assist you with any consular services. Save their details for easy access.

Finally, always travel with a few passport size pictures of yourself and a copy of your Passport and visas.
